Ways to Stay Organized for Back to School

Back to school can be one of the most stressful times of the year and staying organized can be one of the hardest things to achieve during this time. However, staying organized can save so much time on mornings when you’re running late. Becoming organized doesn’t have to be this big ordeal of going out and buying all new storage containers; it can be as simple as repurposing old furniture to benefit your new school routine and help keep you organized for back to school.

Entryways

Having an organized entryway is the key to having an efficient morning routine. Have you ever been late because your child can’t find their homework or you lost your keys? Well, look no further, because this is how you can prevent these scenarios from happening. Backpack stations can be a huge time-saver. It can keep all your kids’ school belongings in one place to make for a quick morning routine. There are many ways you can create one, either by hanging up some coat hangers or using an old dresser. All you need to do for this project is remove all the drawers (which you can save for another project) and spruce up your dresser with some new fun paint or wallpaper.

Homework Station

Having a set place to get homework done can be very beneficial for you, as a parent, and your child. It helps promote routine for your child and keep them organized with their school work. Creating a fun workspace for your child can even make homework fun. Try implementing small bins, buckets, or containers to teach them how to be organized. To save money, you can go to yard sales to find inexpensive tables or desks, and repurpose them with just a little sanding and a fresh coat of paint. Or even better, find a table you would like to repurpose that you already own.

Homework Cart

Earlier, I mentioned that you can save the drawers from the backpack station project. There are many ways you can repurpose dresser drawers, one being a homework cart. In the above left picture, you can see an example. However, you can easily make your own out of dresser drawers. All you need for this project is the drawers, four pieces of wood for each corner of the drawers, and wheels, if you would like it to be a moving cart. Having a homework cart will keep all school supplies organized and in one place to be more manageable for homework time.
