DIY Home Projects to Inspire Your Space

Are you craving a change in your home decor, but hesitant to splurge on expensive pieces? Consider working on your own DIY home projects! Not only is it a cost-effective solution, but it’s also an eco-friendly way to revamp your living space. You just might be surprised to see how a fresh coat of paint and a few thoughtful modifications can completely transform tired furniture and decor.

I recently completed several DIY home projects, and I’m excited to share the results with you. I love repurposing items to give them a unique, personalized touch. From refinishing furniture to updating thrifted items, each project has added a sense of warmth and individuality to my home. Take a look below at some of my favorites.

Repurposed Trunk

My biggest project was to revive an old weathered trunk for storage purposes. Here’s a peek into the repurposing process:

With a fresh coat of paint, this once-forgotten piece now serves as a striking conversation starter in my home. I also took the time to restore the hardware, which had succumbed to rust over the years. A little bit of antique gold Rub ‘n Buff helped bring back its original luster.

Vintage Mirror Makeover

After seeing the results of the Rub ‘n Buff on the trunk, I also used it to transform a vintage mirror. It had been painted over when I found it, causing it to lose its former glory. However, with a careful application of this new finish, I was able to breathe new life into its intricate details, restoring its timeless beauty.

Upcycled Picture Frames

As a lover of recycled, repurposed, and vintage decor, I’ve always been a fan of thrift store finds, too. My latest haul included this collection of wooden picture frames. By now, you can probably tell that Rub ‘n Buff has become my best friend lately. I used it to give the large frames in this gallery wall a modern update. The smaller frames, which are vintage, required no treatment at all to add upscale charm to my bedroom.

Refurbished Vase

Even the simplest items can undergo an impactful transformation with the right technique. I picked up this vase at my local Goodwill store while thrifting, and I gave it a coat of Rub ‘n Buff to make it shine like new. The gold finish turned out to be just what I needed to add a hint of glamour to my styled accessories.

DIY Lamp

For a truly one-of-a-kind addition to my home, I also decided to create a DIY lamp for my living room. The base and pole are made from a real branch that I gathered outside. Paired with natural materials for the shade, this lamp introduces an organic look, bringing a touch of the outdoors inside. It’s a conversation starter and a testament to the beauty of nature’s raw elements.

By embracing DIY, I’ve been able to curate a space that reflects my personality and style, all while being mindful of my budget. I hope some of these DIY home projects leave you feeling inspired to transform your own home! Don’t be afraid to start small and let your imagination run wild from there. You might be amazed at what you can achieve with a little bit of effort and a whole lot of heart.
